This is my first official day of vacation this
calendar year! I started out by watching
“Road to Olympic Games” regarding the Rio 2016 Games coming up soon – it was a
preview of things to come on CBC Sports TV.
First, I watched a soccer game between France and Canada, which was a
very close game with France winning it 1-0, but I was mostly interested in
watching the track and field events (London, UK 2016).
Today, I did the major part of my move out of my old
place at 10 Billingsgate Cres in Ajax with help from Brent and his pals and
James. It was well-planned and
well-executed; however, I’m not quite finished there yet. Now, I am staying at Homewood Suites in Ajax,
which is my home-away-from-home for the next eight nights till Sunday July 31st. I checked in at about 3:45 pm today, all hot
and sweaty, desperately wanting a shower, and tired as hell.
I still have the cleaning up to do at the house, so
I am planning to call Dave on Sunday morning to see if I can get a ride over to
my old place on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, I am busy today watching the men’s and
women’s 400m and 100m hurdles and sprint events, as well as the women’s high
jump event on CBC TV. Rio 2016 starts
officially on Friday August 5, 2016 with the opening ceremonies!
I have access to a small kitchen in my king-bed
suite; however, there is no convection oven, only a microwave oven and a
hot-plate for cooking food. That’s too
bad – I cannot realistically cook any food here that requires a convection oven,
so I might be asking Dave to cook this kind of food for me.
I should add that I was already sort of on vacation the
first week of July when I went up to Brent’s place on Lake Scugog and stayed
there for a week babysitting James. I’ll
tell you more about that week in a later blog post.
