DAY
1 – Sunday January 1, 2017:
Today, around noon, Brent had arranged to meet me at
the York Mills subway station in the parking lot on the northwest corner of the
intersection of Yonge Street and York Mills Road. That’s where we met when he had picked me up
to spend Christmas holidays with him and James a week ago. It was the easiest way for us to meet without
him having to go into the city and pick me up at my apartment on Davisville
Avenue near Yonge. The plan was to take
me up to his place again so that I could babysit James for the week since he is
still home from school for the Christmas holidays and this is Brent’s week for
custody of James. He and Tori, James’
mom, share custody of James equally and this arrangement works remarkably well
for them.
Brent, James and I drove up to Brent’s home in
Janetville and we basically vegged out for the day watching TV. Brent wanted to watch hockey in the afternoon
and then NFL football in the evening so that’s what we all did. Later, we had a very simple dinner of chicken
strips with plum sauce and smiley-face potato wedges dressed with ketchup
. It was actually a very nice dinner
that was easy to make. Brent didn’t have
to work today, but since he was planning to work a twelve-hour shift tomorrow
and knew that he would be earning double time for eight hours of that shift, it
was worth doing.
